Chafe Gear

Removable rope protection on a 12-strand rope makes for a longer service life.

Rope (chafe) protection:
DC Gard: a tightly braided cover construction of Dyneema®, the ultimate in cut and abrasion protection. Read More >>
DC Moor-Gard: same construction as DC Gard, DC Moor-Gard is a tubular abrasion protector. Can be easily positioned on the body. Read More >>
Dynalene: a net type sleeve, is a unique product that protects the strength member from abrasion, yet allows the rope to be easily inspected for both internal and external fiber wear. Read More >>
Cor-Gard: Durable, Economical Cordura Chafe Protector is a woven product that is produced in a tubular format. Read More >>

Why use high performance chafe protection?
High-performance chafe protection, placed strategically on the most troubles spots, is made from 100% Dyneema and coated with Samson's proprietary Samthane coating for the ultimate in cut and abrasion resistance. High-performance sleeves like DC Gard or the unique net-like sleeve Dynalene significantly increase service residual strength of your rope.

Mainlines: Jacketed vs. Nonjacketed
Jacketed lines are commonly used as mainlines worldwide and are perceived as having a longer service life because of the jacket and core construction. However, some users of these lines find that the jacket breaks or wears faster than the core, resulting in the need to replace the entire line.

The advantages of nonjacketed lines with chafe (rope) protection are numerous:

> They are stronger than jacketed lines size for size and they are easy to inspect and repair.
> Only the chafe protection on a nonjacketed rope has to be replaced, saving time and significant investment.
> They are lighter in weight than jacketed lines. A 100% Dyneema® 12-strand line with 100% Dyneema® chafe protection provides the ultimate in cut and abrasion resistance, and the rope maintains its strength, resulting in the long-term value you need to get the job done.

Samson Understands Abrasion
Samson knows how damaging abrasion is to synthetic towlines. Samson's R&D team has studied the mechanisms of abrasion and has worked continually to improve our products performance against them. When you bring our most abrasion-resistant products onboard, you bring The Samson Advantage along with it. This means our application engineers and field technicians will
> inspect your hardware and surfaces to advise you where the rope will meet the most abrasion,
> work with you to smooth those surfaces,
> be there to install the lines properly,
> develop a program of residual strength testing,
> determine inspection and retirement criteria, and
> train your crew on proper care, handling and repair of the lines.

Along the way, you'll be able to refer to your customized rope manual and you'll have access to the best customer service in the industry.
