More than 130 year's experience in the cordage industry built on a legacy of firsts

1878: Samson is founded in Boston, Massachusetts
Spot Cord, the first braided rope with a reinforcing core for
added strength, establishes Samson as a leader in technology and product performance.

1957: Samson developed the first synthetic double-braided rope This patented construction produces ropes far stronger, more durable, and easier to handle than the traditional 3-strand twisted ropes.

1972: Samson installed the first synthetic single-point
mooring system in the North Sea The stage is set for wire
rope replacement.

1996: Samson was the first to convert a tanker fleet
to ropes made with high modulus polyethylene (HMPE)
The high-performance fiber revolutionizes the rope industry
and it becomes clear that HMPE is a perfect replacement for

1996: Samson introduces AmSteel®-Blue made with
